FAQ
How do I get started?
If you are interested in using my services it is very simple, send me an email, or give me a call and then we can set up a time to meet. I do an initial consultation meeting at no charge. The purpose of this meeting is for us to learn more about each other, give you, the client a chance to interview me and feel comfortable with the services I provide. As well as to give me a chance to better understand your business and the scope of the services you are after. From there I will be able to generate an estimate to give you an idea of what it will cost you per month or per quarter, whatever arrangement you prefer. I work off of an hourly basis, but I want to ensure my clients have an idea up front of the time commitment required each month. I can provide detailed timesheets with my invoices, and I will always give you a heads up if the time required per month is going to be more then original discussed and why.
Why hire an external bookkeeper or CFO versus someone internal?
Depending on the stage of your business, for many businesses it doesn't make sense to have someone full time completing the financials, bookkeeping, or offering financial guidance. Many businesses only require a bookkeeper once a week, or once a month and may only require guidance on their businesses finances once a month, or a few times a year. When this is the case it does not make sense for a business to tie up capital in hiring someone full time to complete part time tasks. The nice thing about a contractor as well is there is no worry about benefits, or employee retention programs, or proper notice period if things don't work out. My job is to ensure you are fully satisfied with the work that I am doing, if for some reason down the road you no longer require a bookkeeper or need to change the scope of what I am providing this is extremely easy to do with no headaches.
Do you provide tax services?
I do provide tax return filings for sole proprietors, though at this time I do not provide tax return filings for corporations. While I understand many of the reporting requirements and regulations associated with tax filings for corporations, this is not a service I provide. I have great partners that I work with that specialise in this; I have used them time and time again for my own businesses and trust them explicitly.
Do you provide payroll services?
I am a big proponent of payroll companies. I have used them in my own businesses and find them extremely easy and painless to work with. At this time I provide payroll management services for my clients, where I can work to set up a payroll service and manage all the changes within that system. I believe in this approach because for companies with more than a few employees, it is actually more cost effective to use a payroll company then it is to spend the time doing it yourself or having someone like me doing it. I believe in providing my clients with cost effective solutions and these large companies are able to offer a great service at a very reasonable rate. For companies not interested in a payroll service I am open to discussing other arrangements and reviewing all the options to ensure you get the best value for your money.
What services do you provide?
My services are listed on my services page. Though to sum it up I provide pretty much anything you can think of when it comes to managing the finances and the books in your business, other than the two exceptions listed above. I also provide consultation and services related to government programs like SRED and IRAP, evaluating new markets, evaluating current products, and basic HR strategies and regulations to name a few. If you are unsure about something please feel free to send me an email, or give me a call to get further clarification.
